It was Joan and Carme’s wish to open a restaurant where they could offer roast meat and assorted sausages. Since it was established, the menu of El Celler de Can Serra has greatly improved. You can have from fisherman’s stew, to lobster rice, homemade stews or fish hors d’oeuvre among other dishes. Nowadays it is undoubtedly one of the most stylish restaurants in Empuriabrava.

Quality has become nearly their obsession. They cook top quality local products that do not have to be too manipulated: vegetables from Fortià, near Castelló d’Empúries, or from Vila-sacra. They work with seasonal products from quality meat and fish to fresh vegetables. They include mushroom dishes in autumn and spring; or tuna during the tuna season.

Joan is very proud to have Andreu, who is an excellent cook, working in the restaurant kitchen. Carme is responsible for all the desserts (watermelon gazpacho, whisky sorbets, excellent tiramisu or a delicious fondue are among her surprising desserts).

Joan is the wine expert. He has a wine list of more than 200 local wines from L’Empordà. “We have wines from nearly all the local wineries”, he explains.

The restaurant is full all year round. On weekdays they have a 10€ menu and at night and at weekends an extensive menu which meets the customers’ most demanding wishes.

Joan is very grateful to all their customers for having turned it into a reference restaurant in local gastronomy.
